Project description

This arched bridge in the Lavanttal region is the central structure of the entire Koralm Railway construction project.

The arched bridge was one of the first construction projects to be planned, built and completed to the new Eurocode. The entire bridge was test assembled in the works in order to keep assembly time at the construction site to an absolute minimum. All the construction site joints were welded. For this reason total precision was required in the assembly to keep the welding gaps to an absolute minimum. There was close cooperation between the structural engineers and the companies involved in the construction work due to the complex building physics for this project.
