As part of the modernisation of the Lieboch-Wies/Eibiswald railway line section, the Lassnitz, Schwarze Sulm and Kainach bridges were rebuilt in addition to the Weiße Sulm bridge.
Each bridge structure consists of a stable main structure with 2 parallel, full-walled steel girders and a carriageway slab (trough bridge) below, each spanning a single span. The orthotropic carriageway slab was manufactured with closed longitudinal ribs. The steel girders and carriageway slab were transported separately to the construction site and connected on site to form a single unit using high-strength, pre-tensioned bolts. The bridges were lifted into place directly on site using a rail-mounted crane.
A time window of only 1-2 weeks was available for delivery, pre-assembly, assembly and completion for each bridge. Thanks to precise planning and execution, these requirements were successfully met.
