HASLINGER STAHLBAU was the general contractor for the project, which began in October 2007. The task comprised the entire steel construction including the cladding, the platform roofs and the glass facades. In the course of the renovation work, the existing platforms were lengthened to 160 metres.
The station remained fully operational during the work, in order to minimise the disruption to rail services. As with the renovation of the Wien-Nord station, this project placed high demands on logistics, especially as the space around the station was even more cramped than in comparable rail projects.
