The Carinthian division of the Austrian Red Cross needed more office space. With the aim of creating the most compact office building possible and saving space at the same time, the new complex was built on top of the organisation’s existing ambulance/emergency vehicle depot on Grete-Bittner street.
The load-bearing structure of the new office building is a composite steel structure that seemingly hovers 20 m above the garage. Access is via a cantilever connecting bridge made of steel and glass. HASLINGER STAHLBAU acted as the general contractor and supplied the load-bearing composite steel structure of the office building and the connecting corridor, the composite ceiling (Hoesch “Additiv Decke” ceiling system), the roof elements, the façade cladding (Hoesch FSI system) with integrated and flush window elements, and the glass façade structure.
